State Record Walleye Broken Again in Less than 3 Weeks

Lake Oahe in South Dakota is quickly becoming the place to be if you want to catch trophy walleye. For the second time in less than a month, an angler has caught what looks to be the new state record walleye pending certification. Keith Pazour of Pierre, South Dakota caught a behemoth of a walleye from Lake Oahe trolling a WNC Reaper in the owner’s Hunke Hammer Color.

Pazour’s walleye weighed 17 pounds, 13.92 ounces on certified scales. It was measured at 33 inches in length and 22 inches in girth. This fish bested last month’s record beater by roughly 1 pound, 6 ounces. In October 2023, angler Aaron Schuck caught a walleye that weighed 16 pounds, 8 ounces also from Oahe. Also caught trolling the same lure in a different color.

Congrats fellas for the outstanding catches! Here’s a bunch more pics of the new pending state record walleye caught by Pazour.
